FA reviewing Malky Mackay racist claims after new evidence emerges

Reuters

Cardiff City submitted new evidence to the Football Association regarding the inappropriate conduct of former manager Malky Mackay and former head of recruitment Iain Moody.

The Scottish boss, who was hired to manage Wigan in November, has been under investigation since allegations emerged that he and Moody exchanged racist, sexist, homophobic and anti-Semitic messages.

FA's investigation has been prolonged after the admission of the new evidence, extending an examination many thought would be concluded by now.

"Due to the emergence of significant new information the FA is currently not in a position to conclude its ongoing enquiries into the allegations relating to Malky Mackay and Iain Moody," the governing body said in a statement.

Mackay was sacked in December 2013 after a tumultuous end to his time with Cardiff. He was close to securing the Crystal Palace managerial job until reports of his exchange with Moody became public.
