The first half of Stoke City's 1-0 win versus Hull City on Saturday saw Stephen Ireland find himself on the receiving end of a brutal tackle from Maynor Figueroa, forcing the Stoke midfielder to exit the pitch at the interval.
Manager Mark Hughes, who has since described the challenge as one that could have been career-ending, revealed after the match that Ireland had sustained a calf injury that required about 12 or 15 stitches.
However, based off an image that was initially published by the Telegraph, it's hard to believe that more stitches weren't required as the bloody gash resembled something from a horror movie.
