Brendan Rodgers predicts Liverpool's Sturridge will return before February
While Brendan Rodgers wouldn't rule out Daniel Sturridge's return to the squad during Tuesday's Capital One Cup match, the Liverpool boss seems certain the striker will be back in time for their Jan. 31 meeting with West Ham.
Sturridge took part in his first full training session with teammates Sunday following the club's scoreless draw with Bolton in the FA Cup. His appearance seems to have inspired fresh optimism from the Liverpool boss.
"He's in his final rehabilitation with the medical and sports science guys today and joins in with the group from now," Rodgers noted. "It's just about getting football and game fitness.
“We'll see how he is for Tuesday. If he's not ready for Tuesday then he'll be back, for sure, against West Ham next weekend.”
Tuesday's match is the second leg of Liverpool's Capital One Cup semi-final clash with Chelsea, and could be Sturridge's first competitive match since August if he's fit to play.
