Manchester United have been rumored to be in the market for some defensive help throughout the season - despite their lavish expenditure during the summer transfer window - and the agent for one highly-rated central defender says his client could end up with the Red Devils.

The agent for Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos says the Premier League side has expressed a desire to the young defender.

"Last summer, PSG's president (Nasser Al-Khelaifi) declared that Marquinhos was unsellable. We will see what their position is this summer. Many clubs are interested in the player. Manchester United are one of them, this is true," Giuliano Bertolucci said in an interview with Le Parisien.

The Brazilian, 20, is being tipped for big things in his career, but has found himself on the bench for much of the Ligue 1 season, starting just 10 matches thanks to the presence of David Luiz and Thiago Silva.

"He (Marquinhos) wants to become the best defender in the world. He is not a lesser player compared with Thiago Silva or David Luiz," Bertolucci added. "He respects the decisions of his coach, but just wants to play and spend as little time as possible on the bench.

"Marquinhos is prepared to play at right-back and even in defensive midfield if he has to."
