Axel Witsel hinted at a future in England after expressing his admiration for one of the country's most successful clubs.

The Zenit Saint Petersburg midfielder revealed a desire to play in the Premier League and join his favourite team from when he was a child, Manchester United. However, Witsel avoided any imminent links away from the Russia club he signed with in 2012.

"I have always liked Manchester United from when I was young," Witsel told Samindra Kunti of Bleacher Report.

"I want to play in one of the top clubs in Europe one day. It's true that I like the Premier League, because it is one of the best leagues in the world, for me, together with Germany and Spain."

Witsel is currently in the middle of a five-year contract he signed after making a £32.5-million transfer to the Russian team from Benfica.
