Liverpool's Sturridge returns to training
Liverpool received a major boost Thursday with the long-awaited return of Daniel Sturridge.
The English striker returned to training after missing several months through various injuries. Manager Brendan Rodgers said the team will continue to be cautious with his recovery, and he remains doubtful for Liverpool's upcoming matches as he works toward fitness.
"Daniel Sturridge is back and working well," Rodgers told the media, courtesy of the team's website. "He's obviously not ready to play as of yet, but he's working well, so hopefully in the near future he'll be ready."
Sturridge, who recently joined the team after undergoing a rehabilitation program in the United States, hasn't appeared in a Liverpool match since Aug. 31. Rodgers suggested it's too early to put a precise date on his return to first-team action.
"He's working hard, he's back in the final stages of his rehab here at the club, but there is no time on it yet."
