Aston Villa announce signing of Carles Gil
Aston Villa have finally secured the services of attacking midfielder Carles Gil.
Gil's move from Valencia to Villa was reportedly held up after the player's agents increased their demands in the final stages of the deal. However, the issue was obviously sorted out, and Gil will now be joining Paul Lambert's side on a four-and-a-half-year deal.
"Once I knew that this club was interested in me I wanted to join," Gil said. "I am really looking forward to playing here and showing the fans what I can do. I can play on either side or in the middle of midfield and I like playing as part of the team, making things happen for my teammates.
"This is a very historic club in England, a very important club in the Premier League, and I am looking forward to playing for such a great club in a league that is the top league in the world."
A product of Valencia's academy, Gil has notched one goal and one assist through eight La Liga appearances this season.
He'll wear the No. 25 shirt at Villa Park.
