Yaya Toure named CAF African Player of the Year
Yaya Toure was named the CAF African Player of the Year on Thursday for a record fourth consecutive time, claiming the honour over Gabonese forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Nigerian 'keeper Vincent Enyeama.
The Ivorian defensive midfielder accepted the award at a ceremony in Lagos, Nigeria, and Manchester City subsequently tweeted out their congratulations.
Toure notched 20 goals and nine assists to help City claim the 2013-14 Premier League title, and he featured in each of Cote d'Ivoire's three matches at the World Cup, where they were eliminated in the group stage.
With the Africa Cup of Nations slated to kick off on Jan. 17, Toure is currently on international duty preparing for the tournament. Cote d'Ivoire find themselves in Group D, alongside Mali, Cameroon, and Guinea.
