Liverpool expecting to have Sturridge back in mid-January

The long-awaited return of Daniel Sturridge continues to inch towards reality.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers said Wednesday that Sturridge, who has not played for the Reds since Aug. 31 due to calf and thigh injuries, is on course for a return in mid-January.
"He's coming back into the country in early January to finalise his rehab here. Then we hope that at some point in January - the middle to end of the month - he'll be available to play."
The English international, who scored 21 goals last season, has spent the holiday period undergoing treatment in the United States with the medical staff of Major League Baseball's Boston Red Sox - owned by the same company, Fenway Sports Group, that owns Liverpool.
