Manchester City could be in some serious trouble.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini confirmed that star striker and undisputed team catalyst Sergio Aguero damaged ligaments in his right knee in Saturday's 1-0 victory over Everton - an injury which saw the Argentine removed from the match in tears after just seven minutes.

Aguero, who had scored 19 goals this season in as many matches (Premier League and Champions League) going into Saturday's contest, has an extensive injury history that has long been the only thing holding him back from assuming a spot among the world's very best.

Most disappointing, it seemed as though he was finally starting to put those issues behind him and establish himself as one of the best on the planet.
