Report: 3 FIFA ExCo members under investigation by ethics chief Michael Garcia
Three of FIFA's executive committee members are reportedly under investigation as a result of ethics chief and investigator Michael Garcia's report into the controversial bidding processes for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.
It was announced last week that "a number of individuals" had cases opened against them relating to Garcia's report, and, according to the Guardian, they include Spain's Angel Mario Villar Llona, Belgium's Michael D'Hooghe and Thailand's Worawi Makudi.
Also being investigated are German football icon and former FIFA executive committee member Franz Beckenbauer and Chile's Harold Mayne-Nicholls, who led the inspection team that compiled reports on bidding for the two World Cups.
Calls continue to be made for FIFA to publish Garcia's 430-page report in full after FIFA judge Hans-Joachim Eckert released a 42-page summary that cleared Russia and Qatar of any wrongdoing. However, Garcia claimed that the summary contained "numerous materially incomplete and erroneous representations of the facts."
