Manchester United's Luke Shaw confident he will play vs. Arsenal despite injury

Manchester United's Luke Shaw is hopeful of appearing in his club's next Premier League match despite suffering a slight hamstring injury during England's friendly against Scotland on Tuesday.

The hamstring injury is a recurrence of a previous injury he suffered at the beginning of the season. The Manchester United medical staff will assess the severity of his knock and determine his availability for their match against Arsenal on Saturday, according to Sky Sports.

England manager Roy Hodgson, however, is confident that Shaw and Arsenal's Danny Welbeck, who also picked up a hamstring injury, will appear in one of the weekend's biggest Premier League encounters.

“We had a discussion at half-time over whether to bring me off then but it was a game I didn’t want to come off in so I played the extra 15 minutes and then Roy decided to sub me off,” Shaw said.

Shaw's ailment only adds to Manchester United's injury woes after 'keeper David de Gea and Daley Blind also picked up injuries during the international break that will keep them out for a substantial period of time.
