Laurent Koscielny to miss another 3-4 weeks with Achilles injury

Already missing a host of key players, particularly in defense, Arsenal was hoping to get some injury relief in the form of Laurent Koscielny in the coming weeks.

The French defender, who has not played since the Gunners' Oct. 5 contest against Chelsea, was targeting the Nov. 22 match against Manchester United as a potential return date.

Manager Arsene Wenger poured cold water on that very quickly on Friday, saying that the team's best defender will remain on the sidelines for quite some time.

"He has not started running outside so you cannot think he will be available in two weeks' time," Wenger said. "Then, you have to see how he responds to going outside and running. He is not there yet anyway. He cannot run. He will not be available for three or four weeks."

Wenger added that surgery is not required.
