VIDEO: Branislav Ivanovic shown second yellow card for clipping Di Maria's foot

Jose Mourinho was left with a bitter taste in his mouth after Branislav Ivanovic was shown a second yellow card and sent off the pitch Sunday.

The incident occurred in the final minutes of Chelsea's clash with Manchester United at Old Trafford, leaving the visitors down a man when Ivanovic appeared to clip Angel Di Maria's foot as the two pursued the ball in the Chelsea end.

It's difficult to conclude whether the incident was an accident or something more cynical, but the situation at the time of the foul in a hostile atmosphere with the home side down a goal may have contributed to the referee's judgment.

Manchester United would go on to score the equaliser and the two sides left with a single point.

After making a tongue-in-cheek comment about the Chelsea's decreasing margin for error atop the Premier League table where they hold a four-point lead, Mourinho did his best to hold back how he really felt about referee Phil Dowd's decision to send Ivanovic off.

"If I say what is in my heart, I will get in trouble," Mourinho told reporters, courtesy of the Daily Mail. "I prefer not to talk about this (Ivanovic incident), we had many things go against us, the result was not so good but acceptable.

It was a difficult two points to lose after the biggest threat to Chelsea's title hopes, Manchester City, lost its match on Saturday.
