Roy Keane reflects on 'brilliant' pre-match talk from Sir Alex Ferguson

The bad blood between Roy Keane and Sir Alex Ferguson is likely eternal, but that doesn't mean they don't respect each other.

Keane spoke at a question-and-answer session in London to promote his new autobiography. In a change of pace from his usual criticism of the legendary manager, he recounted a "brilliant" pre-match talk Ferguson gave as Manchester United were about to take on Tottenham at Old Trafford.

"I thought I knew what the group might need, that we didn't need a big team talk," Keane said. "It was Tottenham at home. I thought please don't go on about Tottenham, we all know what Tottenham is about, they are nice and tidy but we'll f---ing do them. He came in and said: 'Lads, it's Tottenham,' and that was it. Brilliant."

Keane also used the occasion to explain he isn't bitter towards Ferguson despite the fallout they experienced when his United career came to an end following a controversial interview with in-house TV station MUTV.
