Hull City 'keeper Allan McGregor out for up to 6 weeks with shoulder injury

LONDON - Scotland goalkeeper Allan McGregor is to miss the upcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers against Georgia and Poland after being ruled out for at least six weeks with a shoulder injury.

McGregor, who plays his club football for English Premier League side Hull, had been managing to keep going with the injury but has now been told he needs to sit out until November, starting with Saturday's match against Crystal Palace.

"The specialist has said he needs to rest and stop diving on it," said Hull boss Steve Bruce on Thursday.

"If you've got a sore shoulder and he's diving on it every day we need to take him out and make sure he recovers.

"Hopefully in four to six weeks he'll be back to normal. We're just delighted he doesn't need an operation. We first thought it might need one."

Scotland manager Gordon Strachan is now set to pick either Celtic's Craig Gordon or Cardiff's David Marshall as his first-choice goalkeeper.
