Didier Drogba: Out with Ankle Injury
Drogba will be sidelined for "a couple of weeks" due to an ankle injury, manager Jose Mourinho said Monday. "He had a problem in the training session with his ankle, so it was not possible for him to travel (for Tuesday's Champions League match at Sporting CP) and I think it will not be possible for him to recover for Sunday (against Arsenal)."
Analysis:
Drogba hasn't seen much playing time this season, as Diego Costa continues to dominate the starts and Loic Remy is Mourinho's first striker off the bench. However, Costa is battling a muscle injury, so it seemed likely that Drogba would see a slight uptick in playing time until his own injury news was relayed.
