Frank Lampard will have a chance to play against Chelsea for the first time in 13 years after Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini confirmed the midfielder's involvement against his former team during Sunday's fixture at the Etihad Stadium.

"Frank is part of our squad and tomorrow I will give the squad list for that game, but for sure he will be involved," Pellegrini told reporters, per the Daily Mail.

Lampard has not played against the London club since 2001, his final season with West Ham before completing a transfer to Stamford Bridge in June of that year.

He holds the club's all-time goal scoring record, but was released by Chelsea after last season when his contract expired.

Shortly after his departure, Lampard signed with New York City FC of Major League Soccer, which led to a loan agreement with Manchester City, the American team's owner. New York City FC does not begin its inaugural season until 2015.

Playing time with the defending Premier League champions, however, has been rare thus far for the 36-year-old as his only appearance came during Manchester City's match against Arsenal on Sept. 13.
