Christian Benteke returns to training with Aston Villa in 'light session'

Here's a scary prospect for any team that isn't Aston Villa: the return of Christian Benteke to the club that sits second in the Premier League table after four matchdays.

Monday saw Benteke return to training with Villa's first team for the first time since he ruptured his Achilles tendon in April, an injury that required surgery and ruled him out of Belgium's World Cup appearance.

"I'm delighted with the efforts of the medical team here at Villa for working incredibly hard with Christian to get him back to fitness so quickly," manager Paul Lambert said of Benteke's return.

"Christian trained today, through it was a light training session. Hopefully, with no effects from that, he'll train again tomorrow with the group. Obviously, we'll be monitoring his match fitness and we'll continue to build him up towards a return to the team."

Of course, equally as excited as Lambert is Benteke. This is the tweet the 23-year-old striker sent out ahead of Monday's training session.
