Martin Demichelis is enjoying life at Manchester City, and he isn't ready to move on just yet.

The Argentine defender, who has established himself as a crucial member of Manuel Pellegrini's squad, is in the final season of a two-year deal he signed upon joining the club from Atletico Madrid in 2013.

Demichelis, 33, tells the Manchester Evening News that he would like to remain with City, and is hopeful of signing a new deal that will keep him at the Etihad until 2016.

"I am playing every game, every two to three days, so I am just enjoying it and taking it game by game.

"I would be happy to stay this year and then one more year because I think I will still have the quality to play at this level."

The towering defender, who scored the tying goal in the 2-2 draw against Arsenal on Saturday with a perfect header, will face competition for playing time from new signing Eliaquim Mangala throughout the season, as the two men will battle for the right to partner captain Vincent Kompany in central defense.
