Arsene Wenger says Aaron Ramsey's ankle injury is 'minor'

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has a "little chance" of featuring in Saturday's match against Manchester City, manager Arsene Wenger says.

Ramsey suffered an ankle injury in Wales' 2-1 victory over Andorra in Euro 2016 qualifying this week, and while Wenger admits there was initial concern the midfielder could be facing an extended period on the sidelines - as he did last season with a thigh problem - he confirmed that the ailment is a minor one.

“I’m relieved because I had been haunted in my head by last year’s injury that was much more serious than expected,” Wenger said, via The Guardian. “At the start, it was a little muscular injury and then it was three months.

“Even if he’s not completely ready for Saturday, it’s a short-term injury. It’s an ankle strain and it’s a minor one, that’s for sure. He has a little chance to be available for Saturday.”

Arsenal are set to embark on a miserable run of matches that, in addition to the meeting with City, will see them play Borussia Dortmund, Tottenham, Galatasaray and Chelsea within the next month.

Suffice it to say, having Ramsey fit and in the lineup is of the utmost importance for the Gunners.
