Report: Roma and Tottenham engaged in transfer talks

Clubs continue to negotiate with a few weeks to go before the summer transfer closes.

Tottenham's Roberto Soldado is one player than continues to be linked to a move away from White Hart Lane.

The latest club to emerge as a potential destination for the 29-year-old is Roma, with Football Italia indicating Walter Sabatini, the club's director of sport,  is in London for negotiations.

Mattia Destro is reportedly Tottenham's target. The Roma forward's price tag is rumoured to be in the range of €25 million. CNN and Radio Sportiva, via Football Italia, state Tottenham would offer Soldado in exchange in an effort to offset that fee.

Instead, Sabatini is keen on bringing Erik Lamela back to Roma, with the youngster struggling to find his place in the Premier League. 

Roma sold Lamela to Tottenham for a €23 million fee last summer. 

With August 31 fast approaching expect to here more of these tangled reports in the coming days. Thankfully, transfer season is almost over.
