David de Gea will not train Sunday, listed as day-to-day with suspected hip injury

After reports emerged Sunday that Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea was in danger of missing the remainder of the World Cup with a suspected hip injury, the team moved to clarify the status of the backup netminder.

According to a press release, De Gea will miss today's afternoon training session, and will continue to be monitored by the team doctors on a day-to-day basis.

While this wouldn't normally be much of a talking point, the lackluster performance of starting 'keeper Iker Casillas in the crushing 5-1 defeat to the Netherlands earlier this week has led some to ask whether the Manchester United man could be given the start against Chile on Wednesday.
