Nasri doesn't expect to get French national team call
Samir Nasri doesn't think he'll be going to Brazil with France.
The Manchester City midfielder wasn't chosen by Didier Deschamps for France's recent friendly versus Holland. The 26-year-old was left out of the 2010 World Cup squad and served a three game ban following a clash with a journalist during the 2012 European Championships.
"I want to wear this shirt but if I do not go to the World Cup it will make it two I have missed," Nasri told French television show Canal Football Club, via Sky Sports.
"At the moment I am rather pessimistic than optimistic so far. I was not part of the last friendly against the Netherlands and it was the last call before the World Cup group being named and I didn't get any explanation. But if I don't go to the World Cup, it will be because of my inadequate performances in the national team rather than my behaviour."
Nasri was left out of the 2010 squad following a row with William Gallas, but the entire team was in disarray at that point.
"In the 2010 World Cup, it was the biggest scandal of the French team and I was not part of it. But I can accept I have not been good in some matches with the French team, notably the first leg in Ukraine [in their World Cup play-off]."
