Spurs get Kane back in training, but could have goalkeeping crisis

Harry Kane's "early field work" of last week has grown into full participation in first-team training this week - putting him in contention for Saturday's hosting of Watford - but Tottenham Hotspur could be short on shot-stoppers.

No. 1 goalkeeper Hugo Lloris missed Wednesday's comeback win at Swansea City with an illness and will be assessed for his availability shortly before the weekend's match. Meanwhile, his backup, Michel Vorm, is having his knee looked at after suffering an injury in midweek.

If Mauricio Pochettino is forced to delve deep into his goalkeeping reserves, he'll likely pluck Espanyol loanee Pau Lopez from obscurity and install him into the starting lineup. For the substitute, he would be forced to look to Thomas Glover and Thomas McDermott from the Development squad.

Kane, 23, has been sidelined with an ankle complaint picked up 10 minutes into Spurs' 6-0 FA Cup hammering of Millwall on March 12. Although his goals would naturally be missed - he'd scored 19 in 22 league outings before his latest setback - Tottenham has stormed to three straight wins in the top flight.

Despite the recent barnstorming form with Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen, and Heung-Min Son starring, Spurs are still some seven points short of league-leading Chelsea.

Tottenham hasn't lost a league fixture to Watford since 1987, and routed the Hornets by a 4-1 scoreline in January.
