Arsenal's chances of finishing in the top four could be dealt a massive blow if scans reveal significant damage to Laurent Koscielny's injured Achilles.

The France international will undergo a scan Tuesday to determine the severity of the damage he sustained to the tendon during Arsenal's 2-2 draw with Manchester City.

Manager Arsene Wenger described the injury as "serious" ahead of Wednesday's match against West Ham, but hesitated to disclose a timetable for the 31-year-old's return before receiving Koscielny's results.

"It is certainly serious," Wenger told reporters, according to Mattias Karen of ESPNFC.

"If he's ruptured a few fibres of his tendon, it could be a few weeks. If it's just an inflammation, he could maybe be available for selection next week against Crystal Palace. I think he has a scan today and we'll know much more tomorrow."

Koscielny had to be substituted during the tie at halftime after apparently suffering the injury in the first 45 minutes.

Meanwhile, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Aaron Ramsey have a chance to be available for Wednesday's tilt at the Olympic Stadium as they inch closer to overcoming their respective injuries.

"They have a test today and we'll see if they can be involved. I think there's a good chance that they're back in the squad," Wenger said.

Neither player featured against City after being ruled out with minor injuries.

Arsenal is expected to be without Petr Cech once again as the Czech goalkeeper continues his effort to recover from a calf injury.
