Inter Milan allegedly turned down a "lucrative" offer from a Premier League team in January for winger Antonio Candreva, according to the player's agent.

The offer was submitted halfway into Candreva's first season in Milan following his transfer from Lazio last summer.

Agent Federico Pastorello didn't identify which team had approached Inter, but claims that Inter is eager to retain the midfielder despite expected interest during the summer transfer window.

"He got a lucrative offer from England at the end of January, but I think Inter want to keep a tight hold on him," Pastorello said in an interview with Il Messaggero, as translated by Ben Galdwell of ESPNFC. "Antonio is very happy to be part of a side which will become Juve's main rivals.

"The Nerazzurri are the most interesting club you could join. Only Inter, for example, could afford to pay €100 million for (Monaco's Kylian) Mbappe."

Reports in January cited Chelsea as the club in pursuit of the 30-year-old, with Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, courtesy of Metro, suggesting the Premier League leader submitted an offer worth £26 million as manager Antonio Conte was allegedly eager to reunite with Candreva after managing him at Euro 2016.

Candreva appeared in two matches and recorded one assist during Italy's Euro campaign before going on to score five goals and collect eight assists in his first season with the Nerazzurri.
