Tom Cleverley will join Watford on a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee once his loan spell from Everton concludes at the end of the season, both sides announced Friday.

Watford also signed the midfielder to a new five-year contract after exercising an option in the loan agreement with Everton to make the move permanent.

The transfer will be official on July 1.

"We're very pleased to secure Tom's signature. I believe it's a sign of our ambition to recruit the highest calibre of player for Watford," Hornets CEO Scott Duxbury said.

"Tom's affinity with the club and supporters has been very clear from the moment he returned, and we now look forward to seeing him in a Watford shirt for many years to come."

Since joining Watford in January, Cleverley has been named a starter during seven of his eight Premier League appearances.

The 27-year-old previously made over 30 appearances for Watford during a loan spell in the 2009-10 season when he was a member of Manchester United.
