Mesut Ozil missed Germany's final training session on home soil with a back issue before departing for Azerbaijan on Friday afternoon.

While the Arsenal midfielder is a doubt to be involved in Sunday's World Cup qualifier in Baku, Julian Weigl has left the camp with a bruised thigh picked up in Wednesday's 1-0 friendly trumping of England and will not be available.

Ozil has featured competitively just twice in the last month - appearing as a substitute in a 5-1 loss to Bayern Munich and playing 63 minutes of a 5-0 FA Cup stuffing of non-league Lincoln City - due to mystery illnesses. His last absence in last Saturday's 3-1 loss at West Bromwich Albion was apparently due to a hamstring issue.

Weigl, meanwhile, won't win his sixth cap in Azerbaijan but, at 21 and regularly putting in some promising performances in Borussia Dortmund's midfield, is widely regarded as a key part of Die Mannschaft's blossoming future.

Reigning World Cup champion Germany has won all four of its Group C bouts without conceding, and possesses a five-point cushion over Northern Ireland and Azerbaijan before Sunday's World Cup qualifiers.
