Amid the most divisive period of the manager's 21-year tenure at Arsenal, striker Olivier Giroud has come to the aid of Arsene Wenger.

With Arsenal suffering a third Premier League defeat in four matches Saturday against West Brom as a biplane circled the Hawthorns asking for Wenger's dismissal, the manager is reportedly nearing a two-year contract extension.

Speculation of a new deal has created a rift among Arsenal supporters, and with chatter of a locker room mutiny, Giroud said the players are united in their support of the French tactician.

"We want to see Arsene sign a new deal," Giroud told InfoSport Plus, courtesy of ESPN FC. "We want him to continue this adventure because we all support him."

A dire post-December stretch has seen Arsenal drop to sixth in the table courtesy of just four wins in nine, the north London lot is poised to finish outside of the Champions League places for the since 1997-98.

Even with a disastrous spell that included another lopsided European exit - this time by a 10-2 aggregate to Bayern Munich - the Gunners sit six points adrift of fourth-placed Liverpool with two matches in hand and face a FA Cup semi-final date with Manchester City.

According to Giroud, all is not lost, and with plenty to fight for, the players are in the gaffer's corner.

"We hope to win the FA Cup this season and qualify for the Champions League again," the stately striker added.
