Arsenal denied reports suggesting the club has approached Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel to succeed Arsene Wenger, according to David Hytner of The Guardian.

German outlet Bild reported Sunday that the Premier League side officially approached Tuchel in an attempt to find a replacement for Wenger after the team's latest setback, a 3-1 defeat to West Bromwich Albion.

On Monday, a spokesperson for the club claimed there's no truth to the report.

Wenger has been the target of increased unrest among a section of Arsenal supporters after the team's struggles in European and domestic competitions over the past two months.

But, despite increasing pressure from the stands to replace the Frenchman, Wenger is said to be eager to stay on, and is believed to have the support of the Arsenal board.

Hynter echoed earlier reports that the club has offered Wenger a two-year contract.

An official decision regarding his future is not expected to be known until after the international break, as Wenger revealed he has already decided what the future holds and that an announcement will be made "very soon."

Earlier this month, Arsenal attempted to quell calls for Wenger's immediate dismissal by releasing a statement insisting that any decision made will be mutual.

Although the Arsenal board is believed to be in favour of extending Wenger's stay, a decision is expected to be delayed as long as the team's current poor run continues and volatile supporters continue to chant, protest, and hold up banners calling for his dismissal.

Sunday's loss saw Arsenal drop to sixth place in the standings behind Manchester United. The club has also only managed to secure wins against non-league opponents over the past month and has failed to win a league match since Feb. 11.
