Report: United's Young rejects offer to join Chinese Super League

Fresh off collecting a winner's medal after Manchester United won the EFL Cup, Ashley Young has reportedly turned down an offer to join the Chinese Super League.

The English winger is believed to have rejected Shandong Luneng's advances and, instead, will wait until the summer before deciding where to play next season, sources revealed to Peter O'Rourke of ESPNFC.

Young's choice to remain at Old Trafford comes as Chinese Super League teams scramble to sign players ahead of Tuesday's transfer deadline.

O'Rourke reports that Young, who failed to come off the bench during United's triumph over Southampton on Sunday, opted against a move to China because he felt the timing was not appropriate and would prefer to wait until the season concludes.

After amassing just 23 Premier League appearances over the last two seasons, regular playing time is expected to be a deciding factor when it comes time for Young to weigh-up offers in the summer.

First-team opportunities have been especially hard to come by since Jose Mourinho was hired as manager last summer, as Young has been limited to just five league appearances thus far.

Last week, United captain Wayne Rooney released a statement to quell speculation over his future after being heavily linked with a move to China.
