Martial vows to remain at United long term: 'I love this club'
Anthony Martial isn't planning on going anywhere anytime soon.
The versatile Manchester United attacker, 21, has been rumoured to be considering his future due to a lack of opportunity under Jose Mourinho this season, but the Frenchman insists he is happy at Old Trafford.
"I love this club, I love Manchester United," Martial said Tuesday.
The French international has started the Red Devils' last three matches, and despite taking some time to settle in under the notoriously picky Portuguese manager, Martial finally looks comfortable again.
"I love the Manchester United fans, they give me a lot and I really enjoy having them backing me. I try to be as good as possible to make them happy, to satisfy them.
"What I want is to stay at this club for as long as possible."
Martial took the Premier League by storm after making a high-priced move from Monaco ahead of the 2015-16 campaign, scoring 11 goals in the English top flight last season.
So why the sophomore slump?
"It is just because last year I played a lot, I had the possibility to play back-to-back games. Now I enjoy playing and we have to wait," the young forward explained.
"I work very hard and I am surrounded by great players, I try to learn and hopefully next season will be better. Indeed I started as a centre-forward but even in Monaco I was a winger.
"As long as I'm on the pitch I'm happy."
