Conte hoping to resolve Costa contract talks in summer
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is "confident" that star forward Diego Costa will stay at Stamford Bridge but insists the Spanish striker should focus on signing a new contract in the summer, when the Premier League season is up.
Costa has reportedly fielded interest from China and while the 28-year-old opted to stay at the club during the winter break, his future at Chelsea has yet to be addressed. Costa is reportedly in advanced negotiations over a new five-year deal, but Conte says talk of new contracts can wait until summer.
"I don't know about this situation," Conte told reporters, when asked about Costa's contract dealings, according to ESPN FC. "I think it is very important to focus on the present and not to look so far forward.
"I think now for the players, for all the people who work for Chelsea, me, to be focused on the present, then at the end of the season we will see the situation."
