5 deals that could happen on transfer deadline day

Reuters

Transfer deadline day will soon be upon us and as managers and directors around Europe look at their (probably expensive) watches, the pressure to make one last move could provide dramatic fodder for fans and reporters alike.

Here are five transfers that could go down on deadline day:

Branislav Ivanovic to Zenit St. Petersburg

Branislav Ivanovic has a decade of service to Chelsea on his resume but is now seeking a move away, making for the likeliest transfer on deadline day. He is reportedly set to join Russian outfit Zenit St. Petersburg, a deal Sky Sports says is "99 percent done."

Ivanovic has over 300 appearances logged with the Blues and has scored 21 goals by way of his overlapping attacking runs, a quality that endeared him tremendously to the Blues faithful. Should the move be completed, word has it Chelsea might add to its full-back ranks with Sead Kolasinac of Schalke 04.

Martin Caceres to Crystal Palace

Martin Caceres has been looking for greener pastures after Juventus allowed the Uruguayan centre-back to become a free agent last summer. He might find what he's looking for in the Premier League with Sam Allardyce's Crystal Palace.

The 29-year-old is still a competent option and Allardyce could certainly do to add to his defensive ranks, as he has yet to actually find a victory at Selhurst Park since taking over from Alan Pardew. He brings with him plenty of Serie A experience ... and he might not be the only one to do so.

From Italy, with love

What do Napoli forward Manolo Gabbiadini and Internazionale defender Andrea Ranocchia have in common? Besides being on the outskirts of the Italy national team, both have been linked to late Premier League moves, with the latter reportedly set to join Southampton, and the former, Hull City.

Southampton could use another option up top as Charlie Austin is currently sidelined with a shoulder injury, and Hull could be an attractive option for Ranocchia, who has fallen out of favour with Inter manager Stefano Pioli and has been limited to just nine appearances this season.

Hurt and betrayed

One player who might force a move out of the Premier League is Leonardo Ulloa, with the disillusioned Leicester City forward boycotting himself from Claudio Ranieri's selection.

Perhaps doing his best impression of Dimitri Payet, Ulloa is apparently hoping to force a move away from the club, and has reportedly had bids rejected from Spanish outfit Deportivo Alaves and from Sunderland. Whether he stays in England or departs its shores, it's clear Ulloa is done with the Foxes.

Making the step up

Speaking of Payet, West Ham is reportedly desperate to add to its attacking ranks now that the French star has departed the club, and Slaven Bilic has one target in mind - Brentford striker Scott Hogan. Unfortunately for Bilic, Allardyce is also sniffing around, while West Brom is also reportedly interested.

Hogan isn't the only player in the Championship who could command a step up to the Premier League tomorrow; Norwich winger Robbie Brady is also on a few team's radars, with Burnley in pole position to sign the Republic of Ireland international. The Clarets might even break their club transfer record for him.
