Confusion reigns as AC Milan deletes tweet announcing Deulofeu signing

Everton is reportedly angry AC Milan prematurely announced the signing of Gerard Deulofeu on loan until the end of the season, with the Rossoneri deleting official confirmation on Twitter hours after publishing the news.

Sky Sports' Kaveh Solhekol, the BBC's Phil McNulty, and the Liverpool Echo's Ian Doyle all indicate Everton has yet to reach a full agreement with Milan, and that Deulofeu is still awaiting a medical.

Milan claimed on Twitter that Deulofeu had joined the club on a dry loan deal until June 30, but the tweet has since disappeared. The club has yet to clarify its stance on the matter.

McNulty believes a "breakdown in communications" is the cause of the confusion, while Doyle understands Everton officials are "furious" with their Italian counterparts.

Regardless, it is an embarrassing turn of events for the resurgent Italian giant, who is operating on next to no funds during the January transfer window. Financial backing is not expected until Chinese consortium Sino-Europe Sports completes a majority takeover in March.

The deal, however, is not at risk of falling apart, according to the Echo's Doyle, and reliably informed Milan beat reporter Antonio Vitiello.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman told reporters Thursday he will not stand in Deulofeu's way if a suitable offer arrived.

"I spoke to Gerry and it's a difficult situation for the player. If he finds a solution to go and to play and to get game time, then it's not a problem," Koeman said.

Negotiations have reportedly taken place for the past 10 days.
