Report: Manchester City may appeal Sagna's £40,000 fine

Manchester City is reportedly unhappy about the fine issued to Bacary Sagna on Tuesday, and is weighing the option of doing something about it.

According to the Guardian's Jamie Jackson, City may appeal the £40,000 fine given to Sagna by the Football Association, which was issued after the French right-back took to Instagram and suggested Lee Mason's refereeing had turned the Citizens' 2-1 Premier League victory over Burnley into "10 against 12."

City is apparently appalled at the severity of the penalty, believing Sagna's good character in the past, and the fact the comment was deleted, means the sanction is too harsh. The Citizens are allegedly also under the impression that precedent indicates the 33-year-old defender's punishment was excessive.

For example, Andre Gray was fined only £25,000 for homophobic comments made in 2012, although the English forward was hit with a four-match ban.
