Mesut Ozil is ready to commit his future to Arsenal and sign a new contract to continue his stay in north London.

However, the fate of Arsene Wenger could prove to be the deciding factor after Ozil admitted he's keen to discover what the future holds for the Arsenal manager once his contract expires this summer.

With just 18 months until his own contract ends, Ozil, in an interview with German outlet kicker, was adamant about his desire to remain at the club he's represented since 2013, adding that the final decision belongs to Arsenal.

"I am very, very happy at Arsenal and have let the club know that I would be ready to sign a new contract," Ozil said, as translated by Marcus Christenson of the Guardian. "The fans want that I stay and now it is just down to the club.”

The German playmaker spoke highly of Wenger's influence on his decision to leave Real Madrid, as well as his eagerness to learn of the French gaffer's fate.

"The club knows that I am here most of all because of Arsene Wenger," Ozil said. "He is the one who signed me and he is the one whose trust I have. The club also knows that I want to be clear what the manager is going to (in the future)."

Ozil has shared the spotlight with Alexis Sanchez as speculation about their futures at the club has dominated headlines this term.

The pair have even drawn criticism from Thierry Henry after the club's all-time leading scorer accused them of holding Arsenal "hostage" by reportedly delaying contracts talks and demanding sky-high wages.

Ozil, however, isn't concerned what Henry, or any other former player, has to say when it comes to his commitment to Arsenal and the ongoing saga regarding contract talks.

"Everyone has a right to say what they want but what they have to say doesn’t interest me," he said. "Ex-players or other people who have a view don’t know what is actually being said between me and the club."
