In pictures: The best of Saturday's FA Cup 3rd-round meetings

The most iconic date on the English football calendar is the FA Cup's third round, and this year's clashes didn't disappoint for intrigue and unique aspects that can only be seen in the lower rungs of the country's game.

Here are the best pictures from Saturday's matches:

Manchester United began the day by trouncing Reading 4-0 in the early kick-off, where Wayne Rooney drew level with Sir Bobby Charlton's club goalscoring record of 249.

And Sutton fans got into the spirit of the occasion while their heroes and AFC Wimbledon emerged through a tunnel that resembled a rabbit hutch:

Millwall fans look on as the Shard cuts the grey skyline in the background. The third-tier side shocked the Premier League's Bournemouth with a 3-0 ease.

Burnley's controversial figure Joey Barton was back in the fold in a 0-0 bore at Sunderland.

Eastleigh's eccentric manager Martin Allen enjoys the early atmosphere at Brentford. His jovial mood didn't last, with the minnow getting slaughtered 5-1.

A scramble between Sutton and Wimbledon. It ended a goalless draw at Gander Green Lane.

Injury-plagued Loic Remy played the opening stanza for Crystal Palace at Bolton Wanderers to make his debut five months after his arrival. The match ended 0-0.

Watford's 2-0 beating of Burton Albion wasn't a hot ticket, but Harry the Hornet did his best to drum up the atmosphere.

In an all-Premier League meeting, Leicester City won 2-1 at Everton thanks to a brace from Ahmed Musa.

Over 2,000 travelling Stourbridge fans go crazy when Dan Scarr levels at Adams Park. However, Adebayo Akinfenwa scored an 83rd-minute winner for Wycombe to turf out the spirited visitor.
