Watch: Guardiola in no mood for pleasantries in post-match interview

While Pep Guardiola's assessment of Burnley's goal was perhaps lost in translation, it doesn't take an interpreter to understand that the Manchester City manager didn't fancy a chat with BBC Sport's Damian Johnson on Monday.

Ten-man City overcame Burnley by a 2-1 scoreline, with two half-time substitutions and a tactical reshuffle upping the tempo in the home side's forward ventures, but Guardiola wasn't in a celebratory mood.

"The sending off," Johnson began. "What was your view of the red card for Fernandinho?"

Guardiola responded: "You are the journalist. Not me."

The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss was happy to have dominance in possession as usual - a 56 percent share despite being a man down - but suggested that the way football rules are adhered to in England (and by referee Lee Mason, in particular) is different from everywhere else.

That fact that a foul on Claudio Bravo wasn't called ahead of Burnley forcing the ball over the line for the visitor's consolation rankled with Guardiola.

"You don't seem that happy that you've won," Johnson probed.

"More than you believe. More than you believe, I'm happy," the 45-year-old insisted, before adding: "I'm so happy. Happy new year."

Manchester City next travels to West Ham United on Friday for an FA Cup third-round clash.
