Report: Everton in talks with United over Depay, Schneiderlin

Morgan Schneiderlin and Memphis Depay don't have to look far for an escape route away from Manchester United as Everton attempts to bring the pair across the M62.

Sources tell ESPNFC's Peter O'Rourke that the two clubs have engaged in negotiations regarding the two out-of-favour United players, including a meeting between team officials ahead of last weekend's encounter between the Premier League outfits- which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman is said to be eager to complete a deal for the duo in an effort to provide a boost following the Liverpool-based team's frustrating start to the season.

There may be an increased sense of urgency to bring Schneiderlin and Depay to Goodison Park after losing summer-signing Yannick Bolasie to a knee injury for the remainder of the season.

Regular first-team football will be the goal for either player before considering a move away after failing to start a single Premier League match since Jose Mourinho was appointed as manager last summer.

West Brom have also reportedly expressed an interest in signing Schneiderlin in the New Year, but a move to Everton may be his preferred destination as it would reunite him with his former manager in Southampton. Koeman and the French midfielder spent a year together at St Mary's Stadium before Schneiderlin made the switch to United in 2015.

Although the Toffees remain unbeaten at home, the club sits 10 points back of the final Champions League place after accumulating 20 points through 14 matches.
