Merely nine days after making his return to the Manchester City first team, Yaya Toure was pulled over for drink driving in London on Monday night.

The Ivorian was charged the following day for the incident in Dagenham, and is set to appear at Barkingside Magistrates' Court on Dec. 13.

"Yaya Toure, 33, of Macclesfield, Cheshire, was charged on Tuesday Nov. 29 with a driving offence, namely driving a motor vehicle when alcohol level above the legal limit," said the Metropolitan Police in a statement, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News' Paul Britton.

"He will appear on bail at Barkingside Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, Dec. 13. The charge follows a stop of a car in Dagenham at around 11 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 28."

Toure's future at Manchester City seemed to be in jeopardy after the barbed words between his manager Pep Guardiola and agent Dimitri Seluk in the early stages of this season. An apology was issued by the midfielder, however, and he was handed his first league start of the season at Crystal Palace, where he scored a match-winning brace.

Toure, a winner of domestic titles in four different countries, came on as a 76th-minute substitute in Saturday's 3-1 home loss to Chelsea.
