Klopp updates statuses of Lallana, Firmino, Sturridge

Liverpool travels to the south coast to face Bournemouth on Sunday, and if the Reds are to grab the three points at Dean Court and keep pace in the title hunt, they'll have to do so with potential absences of three key first-team players.

Jurgen Klopp spoke to reporters Friday on the heels of a midweek League Cup victory over Leeds, and the German gaffer conceded that he's slated to make some alterations to the squad.

"There will be a few changes, probably. I'm happy about each player that is back in training," Klopp told the club's website.

Among those that have returned to training are Adam Lallana and Roberto Firmino.

Lallana has not played since a Nov. 6 victory over Watford after picking up a groin concern on international duty with England.

"Adam has been training since Thursday; yesterday was the first session and he looked good. We need to see how he reacts to the intensity of the training yesterday - it was quite intense for him, I think, but all good. Having him back is cool."

Joining the Three Lions standout on the sidelines for Tuesday's visit from Garry Monk's Championship side was Firmino, who, like his colleague, has since returned to full training at the club's Melwood facility.

"Roberto trained yesterday, too. That's important. There's still a little bit of pain - it's painful but not that serious. When you can deal with the pain, then everything is fine. He is quite a tough guy, so he came through the session yesterday. Again, we have to see how he reacts and that's it."

While Lallana and Firmino's participation in Sunday's south coast sojourn are in doubt, oft-injured striker Daniel Sturridge is certain to miss out with a calf ailment.

Like a broken record playing a familiar tune, Klopp conceded that Sturridge is again plagued by injury, and, in doing so, also quelled reports of a possible January exit for the England forward.

"There is absolutely no idea to sell anybody from the first-team squad. It wouldn't make sense," Klopp added.

"Unfortunately Daniel is not in training. That's what I'm most concerned about, more than transfer rumours, I'm prepared for January. What you ask me will be funny I'm sure."
