Report: Gerrard rejects MK Dons job, open to Liverpool academy
Steven Gerrard has apparently turned down the opportunity to begin a managerial career with Milton Keynes Dons because he holds hope of a job with Liverpool's academy, sources told ESPN FC.
The midfielder, who recently ended an 18-month sojourn with the LA Galaxy, hasn't discounted extending his playing days for a further six months - Inter Milan has been touted as the destination for a potential swan song - but is believed to be open to both coaching Liverpool's kids and helping out with England's senior ranks.
Gerrard is currently working to obtain his UEFA A coaching licence, and the offer from third-tier struggler MK Dons may have come too soon for the former Liverpool and England skipper, according to his former teammate Jamie Carragher.

This despite Dons chairman Pete Winkelman showing patience and trust in young managers in Buckinghamshire, with Roberto Di Matteo, Paul Ince, and most recently, Karl Robinson honing their coaching skills at Denbigh Stadium.
The job overseeing the Reds fledglings may not open up for Gerrard until next summer, but there's no word on when the prospective England role could begin.
