Manchester City's teenage trequartista, Brahim Diaz, has inked his first professional contract until 2019.

The 17-year-old agrees terms just five days after his competitive debut in a 2-1 League Cup win at Swansea City, and is regarded as one of the most gifted youngsters in City's academy following his transfer from Malaga in 2015.

"I couldn't be happier signing my first professional contract with City," said Diaz.

"I only found out last week and it was amazing for me. This is one of the biggest clubs in the world and I'm really happy at City and my family is very happy in Manchester."

The attacking midfielder, who is also adept at playing slightly deeper in a role akin to teammate, role model, and compatriot David Silva, is the latest in a growing legion of youth team products handed an opportunity under new boss Pep Guardiola. Aleix Garcia, Tosin Adarabioyo, Angelino, Angus Gunn, and Pablo Maffeo have all been given chances at senior level in recent weeks.

Manchester City looks to make it 11 wins in 11 outings to begin the season in its trip to Celtic in Wednesday's Champions League group-stage tilts.
