Rose helps Tottenham Hotspur earn tie with Liverpool

Danny Rose scored the equaliser in the 72nd minute as Tottenham Hotspur salvaged a 1-1 draw with Liverpool on Saturday at White Hart Lane.

It marked the third straight tie between the powerful Premier League squads, who have both dealt with some early season inconsistency.

Left frustrated from a 2-0 loss to newly promoted Burnley last weekend, Liverpool (1-1-1) controlled play throughout the first half and was rewarded when James Milner converted a penalty kick in the 43rd minute.

True to form, though, Spurs (1-2-0) woke up in the second to play the role of the aggressor. They ultimately leveled the match when Rose successfully concluded a play that began with a nifty cross from Eric Dier. Tottenham have scored all three of their goals this season in the second half, though might have played their worst overall fixture to start the young campaign.

The teams each possessed the ball half the time and combined for seven shots on target.

Spurs star Harry Kane has yet to score and was taken off for a late substitution.

Forward Daniel Sturridge, meanwhile, was kept out of Jurgen Klopp's starting 11 for Liverpool but did come on late.

Tottenham defender Kyle Walker left at the 28-minute mark due to illness.
