Euro 2016 winner Cedric Soares has inked fresh terms at Southampton, tying him to the south coast for another four years.

Cedric caps off a fine year by agreeing to a new contract. The Portuguese right-back was a standout performer for Saints in his first Premier League season, after joining from Sporting Lisbon last summer, and then played four times en route to his country's triumph in July at the European Championship in France.

"For the players, it's a really good feeling, because the club is showing us that they like us and they trust us and that we also did a good job for the club," said Cedric on the recent spate of contract renewals at St Mary's. "I feel proud to be part of the project and to be part of Southampton and I hope we achieve much more."

Southampton continues the new season by hosting Sunderland on Saturday.
