Schweinsteiger: 'Manchester United will be my last club in Europe'
Manchester United will be Bastian Schweinsteiger's last stop in Europe - just how long he will remain at Old Trafford, however, remains to be seen.
In a brief message posted to his Twitter account Wednesday, the German midfielder ruled out joining another European side, but stopped short of specifying whether he will see out the rest of his contract, which expires in 2018.
"Manchester United will be my last club in Europe," Schweinsteiger wrote. "I respect other clubs, but Manchester United was the only one which could make me leave Bayern Munich. I will be ready, if the team needs me.
"This is all I can say about the current situation. I want to thank the fans for the amazing support over the recent weeks."
The 32-year-old has yet to feature for United since Jose Mourinho was appointed as manager. The arrivals of Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan adds fuel to reports that the former Bayern Munich player is indeed on his way out.
His career could potentially conclude in January, with the possibility of moving to the Chinese Super League when the country's transfer window opens. Or he can make the move to North America and join former European stars such as Frank Lampard and Andrea Pirlo in Major League Soccer.
