Wenger could select Koscielny, Ozil, Giroud for Leicester trip

Arsene Wenger said Thursday he will consider selecting Euro 2016 stars Laurent Koscielny, Mesut Ozil, and Olivier Giroud for Saturday's trip to Leicester City - even though they only returned to training last week.

Wenger rested the trio for last weekend's Premier League opener, but the Frenchman hinted he could take a risk and play them at the King Power Stadium.

"Maybe I will take a gamble on bringing them back early, but I have 48 hours to decide," Wenger told reporters.

Arsenal's currently dealing with an injury crisis, with midfielder Aaron Ramsey and winger Alex Iwobi set to miss between three and four weeks with muscular injuries.

Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista are also stuck on the sidelines with long-term ailments. The situation forced Wenger to start 21-year-old Calum Chambers and 20-year-old summer signing Rob Holding at centre-back for the 4-3 loss to Liverpool.

The gaffer admitted he has "no choice" but to play Koscielny this weekend because of the lack of depth and experience in the centre of defence. The level of opposition is no easier, as Leicester will look to rebound from a shocking opening-day loss to newly promoted Hull City.

Wenger wouldn't comment on potential moves for Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi or Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette. He did, however, say he's willing to dip into the market.

"I believe it is better I don't speak about any individual player. We are working very hard. You are absolutely convinced that I don't want to spend the money, but I would like to reassure you that we are ready to spend the money we have," he added. "As always, not the money we haven't got (because) it is not my money.

"Buying calms the fans down, but it is important to spend but even more important to spend it the right way."
