Jose Mourinho's arrival at Manchester United may have pushed Juan Mata out the door as the Spain midfielder is expected to try once again to escape from beneath the Portuguese tactician's tutelage, reports Paul Hirst and Gary Jacob from The Times.

Manchester United reportedly doesn't intend to sell Mata, however he will still attempt to force a move, with Ronald Koeman's Everton reportedly interested in mitigating such a decision.

His desire to leave the club may have been sped up when Mourinho introduced Mata into the team's Community Shield match against Leicester City on the hour mark, only to remove him 27 minutes later.

Mata originally played under Mourinho at Chelsea but forced a move after he saw his role reduced at Stamford Bridge. He joined the Red Devils in 2014 and while initial reports had Mata staying at Old Trafford this season, The Times' report indicates the former Valencia winger may be heading for the exit door once again.
